Love - A History?

"Love Is a condition so powerful; it may be that which pulls the stars in the firmament. It may be that which pushes and urges the blood in the veins. Courage: you have to have courage to love somebody because you risk everything - everything." - Maya angelou

I've often wondered about the kind of power that Love possesses, and about how love has transformed over the years. Not merely in the physical, expressive sense of it but also the depth; love has rather taken quite a transition over time.
If you go to compare majority of relationships today with the Love sagas engraved in History, you'll soon realize and pick up certain differences in the level of depth, passion, power and intimacy, which seems to be going on a downhill in modern times. Now, this generalized observation does not mean that such passionate love affairs don’t exist anymore, but the ratio has definitely reversed itself.
Why is It that with the legends and stories of the past, even that kind of love, stayed in the past? Why has such a historic love become History?
Nowadays, the thought of giving up ones life for love is a matter of ridicule in our conversations; but go back in history and this was not a matter of joke. So many sacrificed their lives for their love, for Death was easier than living in a world without their lover…  Again, I'm not of the opinion that one should die for love, but this is simply an observation of the mind set and the intensity back then.
If majority of the relationships today even had a fragment of that passion and depth In love like the olden days, the amount of toxicity, lies, cheating and negativity would automatically cease In proportion.
Possibly, because of such coexisting negativity with relationships, We today are so terrified of the vulnerability that comes with investing ourselves completely in loving that one person. Even our mindset and paradigm today keeps us from opening up to this strong emotion, or even the possibility of its existence! Try it, go tell a friend, " I am waiting for The One. I know he's out there for me, somewhere. He'll be my one and only." I guarantee, 9/10 of the times, you will be laughed at, plus they might ask you to get yourself mentally checked. Or, this reaction is my favourite as I've used it a number of times myself, " Oh! This 'The One' crap exists only in fairytales and movies, not in real life."  They're not wrong; well, not most of the times at least…. There's always the hope for an exception!
So, to conclude, All I crave is for this love to come alive again from Historic sagas, that, this love, does not go extinct…. For Love is the strongest form of Magic there is, and we yet are not ready to live in a world without Magic!
